Liner Notes

I had the pleasure of working along with Gene, Carl and John, at Detroit's finest jazz spot, Watt's Club Mozambique.

I saw and felt the mutual Love Affair between the Three Sounds and the audience.

The audience laughing and talking dropped to a whisper as they came to the stage: John Hatton picks up his bass, Car! Burnett sat behind his drums, and finally Gene Harris at the piano. There they were, on stage, The Three Sounds.

JOHN HATTON, the newest member of the Sounds, hometown is St. Louis, Missouri, plays the bass like none other. Watch Out! You'll be hearing more of John in the future.

CARL BURNETT, the percussionist, before joining the Sounds played with Cal Tajer, and the Gerald Wilson: Orchestra-, a product of Detroit, now resides in California.

GENE HARRIS, originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, now also living on the West Coast. works out on the piano as if he were just putting on a pair of gloves.

Gene is the most visible member of the group, in that when he plays you can see music emanating from his body and he carries you along on a trip with the Three Sounds.

GENE HARRIS AND THE THREE SOUNDS have inspired and influenced other musicians throughout the years.

Gene is able to take a piece of music and refine the sound giving a driving impact with a feeling you can't help but enjoy.

What you will hear from this album is energy, fire and excitement with a spontaneous flowing mood.

This is what you call the Gene Harris Sound. Music to the Three Sounds is like a sculpture is to an artist.
